| Fondaumier is situated in the very heart of the finest part of the Dordogne countryside, having an agreeable climate and long hot summers. The area is steeped in history, much within 20 minutes drive. There are castles to explore. Spectacular canoe trips down the beautiful Dordogne River, which passes many of the famous Chateaux. You can go cycling, horse riding, golfing, fishing, play tennis etc. or simply sit and sample inexpensive wine and wonderful food under the sun canopies in charming quiet villages.

The original farmhouse is large and airy and enjoys splendid views. Features include some beamed ceilings, polished wooden flooring and two open fireplaces. The house is comfortably furnished for ten people (+baby). There are 5 bedrooms, 2x king size beds, 2x twin beds, 1x2 full size bunk beds. A shower room/bidet/toilet/basin, a bathroom/shower attach/basin and separate toilet. The kitchen is large and well equipped. The lounge/dining room (7m x 6m)has french windows leading onto a garden terrace at the front of the property. There is also a very large, lawned terrace at the rear of the farmhouse and many other pretty places to play and sit. The house is set in 12 acres and there is a wonderful sense of space and tranquility. The lovely pool is reach by stone steps (or around the terrace) and is shared by the occupants of the cottage. There is plenty of room for sun-beds by the pool or on the grassy areas.

Part of the original, huge barn has been converted to form an attractive cottage. The cottage is comfortably furnished for 8 people (+baby). Features include some original roof beams and stone walls, pine ceilings and a large, open fireplace. There are 4 bedrooms 1x double bed and 3x twin beds. A shower-room/basin/toilet upstairs and a bathroom/shower attach/basin toilet downstairs. A well-equipped kitchen off the large lounge/dining room (8mx6m) which has french windows at either end. The french windows at the back of the cottage lead onto a sunny terrace and lawned garden which runs naturally into the open meadow with lovely country views beyond. There are many places to play and areas for sun-beds by the pool, on the grass or under the shade of a beautiful walnut tree. The delightful pool, which is shared with the occupants of the Farmhouse, is a little distant away from both properties. All is set in 12 acres of unspoiled Dordogne countryside.

1.5 miles from Fondaumier is the typically French village of Chapelle Pechaud with its ancient church and some charming buildings. There is a large, well-stocked supermarket (own bakery) at Siorac (5/6miles) also boulangerie and bars. Belves (pretty, historic, hill-top town)(5/6 miles) traditional village shops/bars/restaurants, excellent boulangerie, boucheri and charcuterie. Castlenaud La Chapelle (4/5 miles) fabulous Castle, Dordogne river picnic and swimming areas, shops/bars/restaurants/canoe hire. Domme a hill-top bastide (built 1280) incredible views, shops/restaurants/bars etc. The amazing, medieval town of Sarlat is approx. 12 miles to the North – don’t leave without visiting Sarlat ! The Dordogne River is some 5 miles distance. There are many other lovely places too numerous to mention. Local activities include: swimming, tennis, walking, cycling (bike-hire) fishing, horse riding, golf and canoeing.
