Nerja is a former fishing village that has evolved into a popular tourist attraction and is located about 35 minutes drive north of Malaga. It retains much of its Spanish character whilst offering superb holiday facilities, including unspoilt beaches, full sports amenities (the nearest 18 hole golf course is at Velez-Malaga 20 minutes away) and local sites of great natural beauty. There are numerous restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Nearby are the world famous limestone caves of Nerja and the picturesque mountain village of Frigiliana (renowned for its whitewashed walls, local crafts and superb dessert wine). The city of Granada and the world heritage site of the Alhambra Palace are just over an hour's drive away.
