More Local Information
|
|
Unspoiled and unpretentious, the countryside around Montegiorgio is dotted with old typical stone farmhouses set in a patchwork landscape of sunflowers, maize, olive trees, fruit trees and grapevines. Montegiorgio itself has a simple charm where life simply stirs but it also has art, monuments, museums, a library and a magnificent theatre. It even has it's own race course. You will need a car just to get here but with the coast only 25 minutes away and the mountains 35 minutes away and a host of other natural and historic attractions within driving distance the house provides a peaceful haven in the centre of it all.

Le Marche as a holiday destination.
The coast. Close to Tuscany and Umbria, Le Marche sits on the eastern side of Italy between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine mountains. The Adriatic coast has been attracting sun worshippers for a great many years and the Marche's coastline competes with the best. Choose from a 180km stretch. Resorts are varied and appeal to the young and old alike, with bustling, lively resorts and smaller, more tranquil family beaches. The area around Conero, just south of Ancona is magnificent and picturesque with it's rocky coves and white limestone cliffs.

Places of interest.
Comprehensive reading material is supplied at Casa Renzo; where to go and what to do but the following is a list of some of the bigger towns in the region and all worth a visit. To find out more about these towns and the region in general look them up on the internet in preparation for your visit. Urbino ~ renaissance city, Ascoli Piceno ~ provincial capital, Ancona ~ administrative capital, Macerata ~ opera festival, Porto San Giorgio, Grottammare, San Benedetto del Tronto and Sirolo ~ seaside towns. Jesi, Cingoli, Recanati, Cagli, Camerino, San Leo, Sarnano, Amandola and Offida ~ smaller inland towns where visitors are still something of a novelty.

Paradise for nature lovers.
For natural beauty, the Frasassi Caves, Furlo Gorge, Monte Conero, Monte Catria and the Monti Sibillini will knock your socks off. The Monti Sibillini has the very best to offer nature lovers, walkers and ramblers and for breathtaking scenery it beats the rest of central Italy hands down. The roads are driveable and still relatively deserted so it’s easy to explore. The region has been designated a national park so the wildflowers and wildlife here are protected. Unsullied and awe-inspiring, the Marche welcomes the visitor to all it has in abundance ~ discover it for yourself.
