The area around Conero, just south of Ancona, is magnificent and picturesque with its rocky coves and white limestone cliffs. Two hours driving takes you over the mountains into Umbria and its classic sites, e.g. Assisi, Spoletto and Gubbio.
For those keen to experience the unique atmosphere of the Sibillini Mountains, the Piano Grande lies two hours to the south-west.
For keen swimmers Lake Fiastra is hard to beat and you will find a guide to local pools in the house.
